As of 10pm last night, ALL BAIKAL FILMS WERE ORDERED PULLED!!!!! If not all, then all were promised to be pulled within 2-3 days. We're still waiting for an official all clear.
Just ONE thing -- don't stop the fight.
We need to watch Baikal and make sure they go to no other venues. Likewise, the child pornography laws listed in this blog need to be ammended so Baikal cannot slip through the cracks. Don't stop what you're doing! I received this from an ally and it makes SO much sense:
It hadn't fully dawned on me that the laws could and should be changed. And now with some clarity, I believe they should. If the exact "Child Pornography" law cannot be changed, we should have SOMETHING at the very least. A new bill can be introduced that will end films showing "boy lovers" and sex abuse or otherwise sexually perverse and degrading materials with children under age.
I will likewise support this with *gulp* leaving the blog up for a bit longer and/or changing its name.
Please send me any information you would have to help others complete this task. Let's not let this drop here. My e-mail is on this blog and you can use comments. I am specifically looking for info on how to send a letter, who to send it to, and in any form letters you wish to share for those who do not care to write their own.
Please also commend Amazon for seeing the problem and pulling the plug on Baikal Films, no matter what it took. They pulled the plug as they have in the past on things like this. Please give them credit where credit is due.
Do not stop watching. Be sure that ALL the films from Baikal are pulled. Double check than none slipped through. Then move forward and contact your local, state and federal governments about this law.
Gina - One happy mama
I am, however, going to continue to urge lawmakers to make the laws more clear. Those videos weren't produced here in the [United States] which is great but they shouldn't be able to be purchased here in the [United States] either. When I was reading the child pornography laws on the Department of Justice website they were unclear and the laws for obscenity are what a jury deems obscene, per a Supreme Court ruling. I think the most helpful thing is to urge people to write their own letters to their elected officials, we are lucky to live where they are accessible by post, email and telephone.
I just searched for Baikal films, and I got "no matches found!" Woohoo! It looks like they've been pulled. Yesterday when I checked there were still three films for sale.
I am thrilled! Thanks so much for bringing this to the attention of so many of us. I am grateful that Amazon listened to us. We should all write them immediately to tell them how impressed we are!

It's great that Amazon.com has pulled the videos, but the real problem of course is the people making the videos. There is very good reason to believe these boys are being victimized in more ways than these videos may reveal. Even if these videos are not sexually explicit, I think there is reasonable concern that the boys featured here are in danger at the hands of criminals who are going to profit from them probably in as many venues as possible. Removing the ways in which they can make money from their illegal activity is an effective indirect means to combat child pornography, and may be the only means if the source it outside the US. But, can we do more to hit at the source itself?

Thanks so much for bringing this to everyone's attention. Had you not found this at the beginning of the Christmas shopping season, they may not have been quite as quick to respond. But I'm glad they were.

I think this is amazing that we got a promise from them. However, many of those films are still up on the site as of today. The only one I could find was the original little warriors. Just FYI. We need to keep on them and make sure they actually do remove these.

WOW! Mama's are amazing!!!
Don't stop keeping tabs on other mega-retailers mama's...we slowed down the US distribution, but only for now. They will find another market.

I CALLED the CEO of Amazon this morning. I didn't speak to him, but got one of his "people". I told him that I was reporting his child porn flicks to the national media. He said that he would pull them immediately. Told him I was going to call the media anyway just in case they don't pull them because I meant BUSINESS.
I called FOX News and ABC News this morning and told them what Amazon was doing and they said they were going to investigate them.

Congratulations! I can't beleive that it was so easy. It just goes to show that the internet can be a true power to the moms who take the time to care. I feel like we moms can one day win the internet back for our children and families to use!
